Good news for role -playing aficionados: the next title of ZA/UM finally gives its news. Six years after the launch of Disco Elysiumthe studio presents us Project (C4), A project still very mysterious. In recent years have not been easy for the creative company and the development of this new game is very impacted.
In a perfect world, a direct sequel to Disco Elysium should have been born, but it was not counting on the many scandals that finally struck. The creators of the famous RPG all left the ship, while other employees have suffered heavy waves of dismissal. The numerous accusations and trials that followed ended up killing Disco Elysium 2 in the egg. Project (C4) will never replace this cancelled sequel and will certainly suffer from comparison with its predecessor. Moreover, the players already express their indignation in the YouTube comments.
Following the departure of Robert Kurvitz (creator of Disco Elysium), Aleksander Rostov (artistic director) and Helen Hindpere (screenwriter), former survivors find themselves propelled at the head of the new project. Jim Ashilevi and SiiM Sinamäe were presented as the main screenwriters of Project (C4), after working respectively as a Dubbing Director and complementary screenwriter on Disco Elysium. In the absence of gameplay images in the short advertisement, here is what developers promise for this new experience.

“An RPG that redefines the genre“
ZA/UM projects are renowned for their audacity, which aims to push the limits of video games. Despite the many structural changes, the studio therefore seeks to keep this philosophy with an ever stranger and dreamlike game. The teams of Project (C4) already present their creation as “an RPG that redefines the genre“. Impossible to have a clear heart before taking charge of this experience, but the presentation of the basic concept already has something to draw our attention.
The players will embody an operator at the service of a corrupt world power, exploiting the spirit of citizens (namely, the brain in the literal case) for geopolitical and spying purposes. The short and mysterious synopsis shared by ZA/UM suggests that in this universe, the psyche of humanity is erased, altered and reworked “Using psychoactive substances among other means“. On paper, this experience promises to turn our brains back by playing with sensitive and topical subjects. Now, it only remains to hope that writing and artistic direction will remain up to Disco Elysium despite the departure of the original teams. Project (C4) does not yet have an exit window, but more information will be shared on the occasion of the Game Developers Conference to be held from March 17 or 22.
