The Apple TV+ catalog is full of very nice surprises. In addition to Ted Lasso, acclaimed by critics and the public, the American platform has managed to build quite a reputation for anticipation thrillers with Severance. In February 2022Dan Erickson’s creation landed on Apple TV+ and it was an immediate success. The critics are enthusiastic, the direction of Ben Stiller acclaimed and the talent of Adam Scott highlighted. If the audiences remain a mystery, the American company not really being the type to dwell on the subject, it is clear that the series has long remained at the heart of conversations among series fans. It didn’t take much for a season 2 to be officially ordered. But now, the producer and director does not want to confuse speed with haste, so we had to wait more than two years to get news of the project. We now know that hostilities will begin next January. THE January 17, 2025spectators will be able to find Mark and his colleagues in this gripping thriller.
As a reminder, the series tells how Lumon Industries makes its employees undergo surgery in order to promote separation between their professional and personal lives. When they enter the company premises, they no longer have no memory of the outside world. At the end of the day, all the tasks they have accomplished are erased so that they can enjoy a well-deserved rest with their loved ones. But now, Mark will be approached by a former colleague, of whom he has no external memory, and embark on a path which will lead him to question his work as well as his own existence. Captivating from start to finish, the series promises to big things in season 2. The release of the new trailer for Severance season 2 allows you to learn more on the subject.
Crisis meeting
We find the characters some time after the finale of the first season, Mark appears to be back at Lumon Industries. The sequence is particularly enigmatic, revealing only a few snippets of the continuation of the employee’s investigation. He is still determined to understand what his company really does. He must also coexist with new employeesthese sidekicks from the first season having packed up. Not much to sink your teeth into, other than the impression of finding the series at the top of its art. We do know, however, that the finale will be discussed, that Mark will learn more about what happened to his wife.

A season 2 that lives up to expectations?
The first salvo of the episode set the bar high, the series must now find a way to continue without tripping over itself. Asked about the reasons for this long absence, almost three years at the time of the launch of season 2, Ben Stiller explains that he gave himself time to reflect to bring out the best possible episodes. “For us it was just about trying to live up to our expectations. The last few years have been an interesting and difficult time. It wasn’t easy to do things. We stayed focused on having the best season possible, and that took a lot of time. I understand people who would have wanted to see season 2 sooner. I understand the impatience”.
Already a season 3 in the drawers?
This second burst of episodes will not be the last, the creators have the firm intention to continue the journey a little further. At least that’s what co-producer Mohamad El Masri says at the microphone ofIndieWire.
“We have always thought about future seasons. Even in Season 2, we were talking about the end of the series and how we wanted it all to end. We have worked a lot on the subject. I think there’s a natural overlap, especially with a second burst of episodes and you have to keep the momentum going. People are interested, people are watching. We really need to think about not only what these new chapters bring that are satisfying, but also how they prepare for season 3 and beyond. I know that they were working on season 3 when season 2 was filming”.
Apple TV+ would be wrong to do without such critical success, especially at a time when the subscription streaming sector is more competitive than ever. The platform has managed to build a solid reputation, multiplying major series to establish itself as the destination of choice for fans of science fiction and drama. If its catalog is less extensive than that of behemoths such as Disney+, Prime Video or Netflix, the Apple subsidiary stands out for the singularity of its productions as much as the care taken in them. Severance could be the standard bearer of this perpetual search for quality, as Ted Lasso was on the comedy side.
