There are tons of wireless keyboards out there. But typically, they charge just like everything else does—with a cable. If you want to spin things up a bit, Logitech has the thing for you.
Logitech has just announced the Signature Slim Solar+ K980, which operates without cables or manual charging by drawing power from any light source. Yes, you heard that right. The core of the new device is Logitech’s proprietary Logi LightCharge technology. This system combines a light-absorbing strip with an energy-efficient design and a long-lasting internal battery. According to the company, a fully charged keyboard can continue to function for up to four months even in complete darkness, and the internal rechargeable battery is built to last for up to 10 years—eliminating the need for replacements during the keyboard’s expected lifespan. Pretty cool.
The keyboard itself features a full-size layout that includes a number pad, with a slim, low-profile design intended to reduce desk clutter. It still takes up the space of a full-size keyboard, but it’s not a gigantic, mechanical beast. In fact, the typing experience is, according to the company, pretty similar to that of a laptop, utilizing scissor-switch keys. It might be off-putting for some on a desktop keyboard—reduced travel and durability issues being among many people’s top concerns—but if you don’t need or don’t want a mechanical keyboard, it’s pretty good.
The keyboard offers multi-device and multi-operating system compatibility. It features a multi-OS printed layout for Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS. You can connect to and toggle between up to three different devices—such as a computer, tablet, or phone—using the integrated Easy-Switch keys. If you need more personalization, it’s available through the Logi Options+ App for Windows and macOS, which allows you to customize the keyboard’s functions. This includes programming Smart Actions to automate tasks and utilizing a dedicated AI Launch Key to instantly access tools like Copilot, Gemini, or ChatGPT.
There’s even a business-focused model. This model employs a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver, which is designed for use in high-density wireless environments. The business keyboard can be monitored by IT teams through Logitech Sync, a platform that provides an overview of device status and firmware details. The business version also allows employees to customize up to 23 shortcut keys, including the AI Launch Key, to improve productivity.
The Logitech Signature Slim Solar+ K980 will be available for $100 in the universal and Mac versions, and it will also be available in a business version that will set you back $110. It’s available from today on Logitech’s website, so check it out now.
