TSMC recently experienced a leak involving its advanced 2nm process technology. Internal monitoring revealed that employees exploited remote work vulnerabilities to photograph and leak confidential documents by mobile phone. A former engineer surnamed Chen took over 700 photos of technical materials, with some information allegedly leaked to employees of Tokyo Electron (TEL), a Japanese semiconductor equipment supplier. TEL, a key supplier to TSMC, is also a shareholder in Rapidus, a Japanese semiconductor firm competing with TSMC in 2nm technology. Taiwanese prosecutors conducted searches from July 25 to 28, arresting the three suspects and applying for detention with restricted visitation. [Icsmart, in Chinese]
