With disagreements over the volume of music, TV or gaming the second biggest subject of dispute.
While squabbles about leaving gadgets and chargers lying around the house came third.
Dishwasher disputes were fourth on the list, as 23 per cent of couples bicker about the correct way to load it.
Lara Brittain, spokesperson for Currys, which commissioned the research, said: “Our home tech is important to us, but people do get set in their ways – including couples.
“Which can lead to the odd argument here and there – and many of us can relate the perennial dishwasher debate, for example.”
The study also revealed 13 per cent have even thought about breaking up with a significant other over a tech related argument.
As 22 per cent admit to arguing with a partner about using household appliances at least once a week.
With washing machines also causing some domestic wrath – since 17 per cent feel frustrated when a partner puts the laundry on the wrong setting.
And almost a third of couples (30 per cent) have even fallen out over stacking the dishwasher.
With 56 per cent of cohabiters never having discussed domestic duties before moving in together.
While 16 per cent believe they have become lazier since moving in with a loved one.
Those aged between 18 and 24 are most likely to argue about phone usage with their partner (39 per cent).
While those aged 65 and over will get the most hot under the collar with their significant other about volume control (25 per cent).
But despite these frustrations, 75 per cent of all those polled, via OnePoll, agree managing household technology effectively is important for a healthy relationship.
But when disagreements over technology do arise, top ways to resolve the tension are researching online (30 per cent), asking a friend or family member (24 per cent) or visiting a store for expert advice (14 per cent).
Lara Brittain at Currys added: “We’d hate for anyone to break up over an argument over devices or appliances and since our expert colleagues are well versed on the latest tech and household appliances, we’re on hand to help couples overcome their tech squabbles.”
