Types of Scam Messages That You Should Never Click on WhatsApp

The instant messaging platform WhatsApp is used by millions of people worldwide, offering an easy way to communicate and interact with loved ones, family, and friends. However, as India is moving forward towards digitization, scams and frauds are also increasing rapidly. Now scammers have started making innocent people their victims through WhatsApp. Not only fake calls on WhatsApp, but scammers can also make you bankrupt through fake messages. Make sure you not just fall prey to these scams, but also help others to identify these scammers.

In this article, we will delve into how to identify these fake messages and stay safe.

Winning Prize

Most people on WhatsApp fall prey to fake messages like “You’ve won a prize!”. In such messages, users are informed that they have won a heavy prize amount in a lucky draw. Generally the message displays with such scam is ‘Click on the link below to claim the amount’. Never click on such messages as they can empty your account.

Job Notification

Scammers have made the unemployment of innocent people a means to cheat them. Some scammers send fake job notification messages on WhatsApp. Users are sent a fake link under the pretext of filling a form, in which users can fill their personal details. Always remember that companies never send job notifications via WhatsApp.

Bank Alert

The third type of fake message on WhatsApp is a bank alert. In these messages, users are asked to complete the KYC process through a fake link. The sole purpose of such scams is to steal your money.

Delivery Problem Notification

Apart from this, some messages are also received on WhatsApp in which users are informed about delivery failure which is not even made to them. Such messages are also a way of scamming.
