A CRUCIAL update has hit Freeview’s successor platform as watchers report eight channels, that were supposed to drop last week, as missing.
The next-generation online TV site Freely announced that more would be added to the streaming site but some TV viewers have been left waiting.

Freely, the hybrid Freeview successor, allows people to watch a growing number of Freeview and Freesat channels on their smart TVs through broadband.
The platform announced at the start of the year that eight new channels would hit its service.
These included True Crime, True Crime Xtra, Legend, and Legend Xtra.
Other channels were PBS America, GB News, QVC, and QVC 2.
Although these channels were meant to hit people’s smart TVs in January some watchers have reported that they have not been able to find these new options.
This could be a sign that some devices have not been automatically updated to reflect these changes.
There are several actions people can take to fix this issue.
Firstly, TV watchers in this situation should update their Freely app, which is free to do.
This can be done by going to the setting menu on a TV and selecting software updates.
Secondly, watchers could restart their TV by turning it off and unplugging it.
Viewers should wait five minutes and plug the TV back in.
Thirdly, TV watchers could also try to reinstall the Freely app.
They could do this by deleting the app and re-downloading it through the app store on their Smart TV.
Freely has become a popular and free alternative to Sky’s Glass and Stream internet TV services.
It was launched in 2024 and beams live channels into homes via Wi-Fi instead of the traditional aerial.
The service is built into new TVs and works as a hybrid model, meaning it can switch between Wi-Fi and aerial.
Freely already has the main broadcasters – BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 – on it’s streaming options.
It later added, U&Dave, U&Drama, U&W, and U&Yesterday.
