The chief executives of US chip giants Intel, Qualcomm, and Nvidia are planing to meet with US officials in Washington next week in an effort to lobby for loosening chip export restrictions on China, Bloomberg reported on July 14. The trio are opposed to extending restrictions on the sale to China of certain chips and the equipment to manufacture them that the Biden administration is set to roll out in the coming weeks, the sources said. The execs are aiming to convince Biden’s team that expanding restrictions would hurt technological development and competition in both countries, though the companies do not expect to block all of the administration’s actions, Bloomberg added.
