Mark Zuckerberg loves surprises, and often they are not very good. His last find is no exception. With “Vibes”, a new wire available in the Meta AI application (available in more than 40 countries), the social networks giant offers users a string of clips generated by AI. It is a question of offering an “thread of expressive videos” from artists and creators.
AI soup in the AI app
To illustrate the concept, the pattern of Meta split a few examples. In one of them, a father – who strangely resembles the pattern of Meta – tries to calculate the tip of a meal at $ 30 and concludes, lost: ” It must do well … 600 billion. Other videos show an Egyptian princess in the middle of the selfie session, a dog gamba in a flooded field, or a cat in a baker’s apron conscientiously kneading the dough. Small visual sketches that focus on “weird but funny but weird anyway”.

Meta specifies that everyone can publish their own creations or “remix” existing videos by adding visuals and music. In its communication, the company highlights even more delusional or annoying clips: a big plush monster that bikes or a joyfully leaping momentum on a trampoline.
If Meta has its own AI models, called Llama, the company has chosen “vibes” to rely on other laboratories, including Midjourney and Black Forest. The idea, according to Alexandr Wang, new AI boss at Meta, is to show the power of recent video generators, while Google launched its own Veo3 model a few months ago.
But for many, the result is mainly like a gigantic catch-all drawer. The thread is not personalized and continues without logic of random clips: a Viking that makes a selfie, a cartoon duck, a woman in yoga dress who caresses a cat … Suffice to say that the global sense escapes quickly.
And Internet users did not fail to make it known. Why spend hundreds of millions to give birth to a flow of absurd videos that no one really asked? It must be said that the phenomenon is not isolated. Almost one of ten growing youtube channels would only publish only content generated by AI. What feed the debates on the real usefulness of these productions on the border of the useless gadget.
