VIRGIN Media customers have received a free TV upgrade with a load of shows available to watch on-demand now.
Content from almost a dozen channels are now available on millions of boxes across the UK – and at no extra cost.
These include classic British favourites, crime and sport.
The shows can already be watched for free from Virgin Media‘s selection of FAST channels (also known as Free Ad Supported TV).
FAST channels appear like any other station except they are beamed into homes via the internet instead of cable.
Until now, they’ve just been available on Virgin Media as a streamed channel.

SKYFALL
The 15 TV channels disappearing from all Sky and Virgin Media boxes this November
TURN OFF
Beloved TV channel is shutting down after over 10 years of broadcasting
But this latest change means you can watch any of the shows from these channels at anytime you want on demand.
Shows from 11 of the 35 FAST channels on Virgin are now available on certain boxes, including:
The channels are Next Up Live Comedy, Love Pets, Haunt TV, Homes Under The Hammer, Baywatch, Real Crime, Real Wild, History Hit Wonder, The Chat Show Channel and TRACE Sport Stars.
“We’re making unmissable content even easier to enjoy by making linear FAST channel content available on-demand so Virgin TV customers can tune in at any time and at no extra cost,” said David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2.
From comedy to crime and history to pets, our customers can keep up with it all, with catch-up capability now available for the first time for 11 of our most popular FAST channels.”
Get more quality TV for free
By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor
If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.
While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.
As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.
If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices including Fire TV Sticks.
On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.
Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
