According to reports from ISPreview, the upgrade applies to Virgin Media (O2) customers using a TV 360, Stream (Flex) or v6 box, with the broadband giant rolling out two new FAST channels: Stingray Classica and Stingray DJAZZ.

Stingray Classica, found on channel 296, features a lineup of classical music, opera and ballet performances.

Stingray DJAZZ, airing on channel 297, showcases jazz concerts, films, artist profiles and documentaries from major venues and festivals.

VMO2’s TV and Entertainment boss David Bouchier said: “We’re always looking to offer our customers handpicked channels to broaden our offering which is why we’ve added two more to the mix.

“From classical music to jazz concerts and artist interviews, the new channels offer something for all music fans to enjoy!”

Virgin’s latest giveaway follows a wider trend of TV providers adding bonus content for free to keep viewers sweet.

Sky has recently expanded its FAST line-up on Sky Glass and Sky Stream, throwing in extra entertainment and factual channels at no additional cost.

Freeview has also boosted its Electronic Programme Guide several times this year by adding new music, kids’ and reality channels to its FAST roster.

Even Samsung TV Plus and LG Channels have grown their free selections, offering everything from classic films to esports without needing a subscription.

Virgin customers now join the growing number of UK viewers enjoying extra freebie channels as competition between TV platforms heats up.

Get more quality TV for free

If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
