VKD3D 1.17 made its debut this morning as the newest version of this Direct3D 12 over Vulkan API implementation.
VKD3D 1.17 is the newest feature release for this Vulkan-powered Direct3D implementation developed by upstream Wine. VKD3D is bundled with Wine and the upstream effort compared to Valve’s VKD3D-Proton downstream that is shipped by Steam Play (Proton).
With VKD3D 1.17 there is initial HLSL shader support for thread group shared memory. There have also been some new features implemented for the experimental Metal Shading Language (MSL) target for Apple/macOS. Plus a variety of bug fixes.
