No fooling, April looks like one of the best months in a while for Disney+. Fans of Marvel and Star Wars content have both the climactic episodes of Daredevil and a new season of Andor to watch, and the streamer is also moving into live content with daily airings of SC+ from ESPN. Plus cartoons, documentaries, and more. Here are our picks for the best of April on Disney+.
Not Just A Goof (April 7)
I’m a sucker for behind-the-scenes stories, and new documentary Not Just A Goof covers an unusual topic: the production of A Goofy Movie, the 1995 animated film made on a shoestring budget inside Disney by a first-time director that, over time, has become a cult classic thanks to its clever and charming portrayal of teenage life coupled with an absolute banger soundtrack. Not Just A Goof features interviews with key players and never-before-seen archival footage.
Doctor Who: Season 2 (April 12)
It may be called “season 2,” but it’s really the fifteenth series of long-running British sci-fi saga Doctor Who. Ncuti Gatwa returns as the Fifteenth Doctor, accompanied by Ruby Sunday and a new companion as they skip through the timestream and get in a variety of trouble. Confirmed guest stars for the four-episode season include Alan Cumming and Archie Panjabi.
Andor: Season 2 (April 22)
The best Star Wars series returns for a second season, but there’s something a little weird about Disney+ dropping it in three-episode chunks as opposed to stretching it out like it does with most of the other shows. Andor ended the first season in a tough spot, as the Empire continues to assemble the Death Star and his freedom seemed to be at an end. We’ll be there for the second and final season, which is slated to run 12 episodes.
