First weekend of the year and the Saturday No Circula Today restrictions are back with us. Yes, because the restrictions of the program do not rest. Today, January 4, 2025, the specific restrictions of this program return.
But what are we talking about? If you still don’t know, where the Hoy No Circula program devised by the CDMX Environment Secretariat (SEDEMA) is applied, it restricts the circulation of some cars to improve air quality.
As? Yes, if you are affected by the restrictions you will not be able to move the car or, at least, you will have a lot to take into account to ensure that you do not get a large fine. This is what applies in the 16 municipalities in Mexico City and in the following suburban municipalities of the State of Mexico:

What cars and license plates does Hoy No Circula Saturday affect?
But what are the criteria that determine whether or not a car can circulate when the Not Circulating Today applies? And when does he do it on Saturday? You can consult all those restrictions that require you to leave the car at home above.
These restrictions are determined, first, by the hologram. This will leave our car outside or not and will therefore determine whether we will be able to move calmly. In the image above you can check which car is affected at any given time.
And, as you can also see, there are some special rules that you must take into account and which leave us with the following photograph:
- Cars that can circulate every Saturday
- Cars that have to rest every Saturday
- Cars that rest every other Saturday
All these restrictions only apply between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.. Therefore, it must be taken into account that at night we will be able to move without problems and that what is written here does not need to be taken into account.
Having clarified all this, which cars can move and which cannot this Saturday? We go step by step.
Cars with hologram 0 and 00 are not required to stay at home and can therefore move freely, including on Saturdays. Owners of cars with hologram 2 do not have much to think about either: they will not be able to move on any Saturday during the previously specified hours.
Only cars with hologram 1 have to be clear about what we are talking about when we stop to explain what the Saturday No Circula is. The first thing to be clear about is that you also have to look at the license plate number because those ending in odd numbers will rest on the first Saturday of each month. Plates finished in even numbers will be done on the second Saturday of the month.
And, thus, week by week, both plates will rotate. Therefore, this week the cars with hologram 1 and license plate ending in an odd number will rest. Next week the cars with hologram 1 and a license plate ending in an even number will do the same.
However, we cannot forget that there are some restrictions. Beyond time control, the following cars will be able to move with total freedom:
- Those that run on electricity, natural gas or are hybrids
- Those who have a disabled license plate
- All those dedicated to urban transportation services (includes funeral homes)
- Those that offer school or passenger transportation
- Those intended for public safety and/or civil protection
If you fail to comply with these restrictions, the fine will be 20 to 30 times the Unit of Measurement and Update (ONE), which is equivalent to 1,924.40 pesos and even 2,886.60 pesos.
