SPOTIFY is introducing a new messaging service to talk to mates about music.
But fans of the popular streaming app have slammed the move saying they want another long-requested feature instead.

Bosses have insisted Spotify Messages isn’t meant to replace WhatsApp, Facebook and other texting apps but “complement” them.
Users of both free and premium accounts will have the ability to send one-on-one messages within the existing Spotify app.
In a bid to get people talking about music, the conversation starts when you share Spotify content with people you’ve interacted with before through Spotify.
“When listening to a song, podcast, or audiobook in the Now Playing View, tap the share icon, select a friend, and hit send,” Spotify explains.
“Once you accept a message request, you’ll be able to react with emojis, send texts, and seamlessly share Spotify content back and forth.
“Access Messages by going to your profile photo in the top left corner.”
Users have the choice to accept or reject message requests.
And the feature is only open to people aged 16 and over.
“WHO EVEN ASKED FOR THIS???” one user wrote on Reddit in reaction to the announcement.
“Cant wait for something new to come along, so i can ditch Spotify.
“Their recommendations have been complete s**t for more than a year now anyway. Same songs or remixes of same songs over and over again.“
Another commented: “Most company layoffs in these past few years have been cold, heartless, and unnecessary.
“Now I’m wondering if Spotify’s didn’t go far enough.”
Instead, users want to the long-awaited deluxe Hi-Fi version of the app for lossless audio.
“Stop releasing things that aren’t music!” one user said.
“Add Hi-Fi, Atmos, UHD, and decent HD!”
Spotify says Messages are rolling out this week in selected markets.
