Microsoft has announced the availability of Windows 365 Link, a small device in mini-PC format, which shows where the Redmond firm wants the client computing at the business level as PC in the cloud.
Windows 365 Link is a Compact computer which eliminates the need for active cooling for its low level components, an Intel N250, 8 GB processor, RAM and 64 GB of UFS storage. It can show content on two screens simultaneously and is compatible with Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3.
No more is needed because the device is not a typical Windows computer. Does not execute the system or store locally. Instead, it connects to the cloud and maintains the out of the device for greater security. To configure it, the client only needs to connect the machine to a monitor, mouse, keyboard and Internet access, to log in with their account and “Connect your virtual PC machine in the cloud with Windows 365”they explain from Microsoft.

Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, presented Windows 365 as a new service that defined as «Cloud PC» since it would allow users to access a complete Windows environment from any device (and with any operating system) through a web browser. In essence, a virtualized experience of personal computers with Windows, with which Microsoft combined the functionality and safety of the cloud with the versatility and simplicity of a PC.
Windows 365 Link is a sample of how this service works. The machine works with editions 365 Frontline, Enterprise and Business. As with other cloud -based solutions, Microsoft blocks some of the safety options, characteristics such as Secure Boot, the dedicated safe platform module, the integrity of the hypervisor code, Bitlocker encryption and the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint detection and response sensor.
After their presentation at the Intune Conference last November, more than 100 organizations participated in the Prior Vista program and helped Microsoft perfect the experience. The company cites a study that projects a significant investment return for companies that adopt Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop, since “They can improve productivity, reduce IT administration and infrastructure costs, and improve security”.
Windows 365 Link is now available in the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Canada and Australia, and a nearby launch is expected in other countries. It will sell it specialized distributors in companies and has a Price of 349 dollars.
