Seizure-inducing RGB lights aside, nothing screams “I’m a gaming headset!” more than a massive protruding microphone arm. Telescopic and detachable mics that try to be stealthy usually mean a bigger, bulkier headset overall. Logitech’s answer? Ditch an external mic altogether, giving the new G325 Lightspeed the outline closer to a pair of Hi-Fi headphones.
You won’t have to stay silent in multiplayer matches, as the G325 has an integrated mic with beamforming tech that can zero in on your voice. Optional AI-powered noise reduction can cut down on background distractions too – though it can’t do a thing about any potty mouth caused by gamer rage.
The result should be a headset that can be worn all day, both inside and away from home, for gaming and life in general. It’s got flexible ear cup joints, extendable arms and a headband made of breathable knit fabric, while the ear cups themselves are stuffed with memory foam padding for maximum comfort. The lilac and white colour options are fun, but black is also on the table if you don’t want to break with tradition.
It shares the same intuitive button layout as Logitech’s other recent gaming headsets, including the G522 Lightspeed and G321, and plays nicely with Logitech’s G Hub PC software and mobile app for custom EQ adjustment, mic settings and the like.
The dynamic driver arrangement has been tuned for gaming, as you’d expect, with a 24-bit audio pipeline that aims to preserve fine details like approaching footsteps.
Logitech is promising over 24 hours of battery life, though doesn’t say if that’s when hooked up to a PC or console using the Lightspeed wireless dongle or via Bluetooth; the G325 has both, for quick switching between devices. Lightspeed connections should be good for up to 30m of range, so shouldn’t cut out when you pop to the kitchen for a snack run.
The G325 Lightspeed goes on sale in the US, Europe and UK this month. You’ll be able to pick one up in black, white, or lilac colours for $80/£70/€80.
