Xiaomi has taken the first step at home with the launch of the 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. Three models that, apart from its power and specifications, reveal a difficult intention to hide: Competerate frontal with Apple. The parallelism with the iPhone 17 and 17 pro is not only in the name, but also in the way the brand has structured the range.
The common denominator is a shared technical platform, but the differences arrive with concrete decisions in design, battery and photography. In the PRO, the great novelty is a back screen that seeks to recover the “Wow effect” on the Android scene.

The starting point is the same, the outcome not so much
The three Xiaomi 17 share a platform that places the series at the top of Android. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, officially presented by Qualcomm the day before the launch, appears here with the label “Extreme Edition”, A usual Xiaomi practice to differentiate dedicated or optimized configurations. It is manufactured in 3 Nm and with Oryon nuclei capable of reaching 4.6 GHz, accompanied by a new generation Adreno GPU.
To this is added an OLED screen with adaptive soda of up to 120 Hz and a maximum shine of 3,500 nits, in addition to a set of cameras signed by Leica with three 50 MP sensors and a 50 MP front. 5G double SIM connectivity, Wi -Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IP68 and Hyperos 3 resistance complete the list, next to a fast charging of cable and 50 W wireless.
The most visible jump between the basic model and the pro is on the back. The Xiaomi 17 pro incorporates a 2.7 -inch AMOLED panel With a resolution of 904 × 572 pixels, while the Pro Max raises the bet with 2.9 inches and 967 × 596 pixels. Both admit soda of up to 120 Hz and a brightness range that goes from 1 NIT to 3,500 nits, which allows them to consult inside without dazzling or outdoors with total clarity. Its usefulness goes beyond notifications: from there you can attend calls, control music, review travel information or even use the main camera for real -time previous view.

Many will think that Chinese brands usually look too much about Apple. And, in part, it is difficult to deny that Xiaomi 17 brings something that reminds the most recent iPhone. This is the call “Xiaomi Hyperisland”, A kind of interactive notifications center that floats at the top of the screen. The idea is very similar to the iPhone Dynamic Island, because it also concentrates calls from calls, music or reminders. The difference is in the nuances: here not only not only notes appear, you can also display a floating window or directly drag the content to share it.

The Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro share the same compact format: 151.1 millimeters high by 71.8 wide, with a thickness that moves between 8.06 and 8.0 millimeters and a weight of just over 190 grams. They are terminals designed for those who prioritize comfort in hand. The Pro Max, on the other hand, plays in another league. With 162.9 millimeters high and 77.6 wide, its body stretches up to 219 grams. It is the model for those who seek the big screen experience without worrying about size.

On the front, the difference is marked by size. Both on 17 and 17 pro bet on a 6.3 -inch panel with a resolution of 2,656 × 1,220 pixels, while The Pro Max rises to 6.9 inches with 2,608 × 1,200 pixels. All maintain the OLED technology, the 120 Hz adaptive soda rate and a brightness that reaches 3,500 nits, so the image quality does not change between them. What varies is the experience: more manageable and contained in compact models, or more immersive and designed for multimedia consumption in the Max.
Autonomy marks another separation between the three. The Xiaomi 17 integrates a 7,000 mAh battery, the 17 PRO reduces the figure to 6,300 mAh and the Pro Max leaves to 7,500 mAh. In all three cases we talk about silicon-carbon cells, a technology that raises energy density and makes it possible to achieve these values in relatively content formats. The load speed remains identical throughout the family: 100 W by cable, 50 W wireless and 22.5 w of reverse load. The difference is in the approach. The base model plays the resistance letter despite its reduced size, the pro sacrifices some capacity to give space to the rear screen and the Max concentrates the greatest autonomy.

The three versions share a 50 MP main camera, but the teleobjective marks clear differences. The Xiaomi 17 mounts a 60 mm optics with opening F/2.0; The 17 pro adds Telemacro with a 20 -centimeter approach and opening f/3.0; and the Pro Max is committed to F/2.6 and a calibrated telemacro at 30 centimeters to gain light and control in the first planes. Reading is simple: who looks for more creative options in photography You have to look at the Pro.
In memory and storage there are no big surprises, but a detail that distinguishes the largest model. Both Xiaomi 17 and 17 PRO are offered with 12 or 16 GB of RAM LPDDR5X and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The Pro Max shares those configurations, but adds a 1 TB option designed for those who need extra space for video, photography or heavy games.
