Xiaomi’s push into performance cars has taken a decidedly virtual turn.
From today, January 29, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will be playable in Gran Turismo 7 on PS4 and PS5. This marks the brand’s first-ever appearance in Sony’s long-running racing simulator.
The car arrives as part of Update 1.67, and while Gran Turismo is no stranger to electric vehicles, Xiaomi’s inclusion is notable. The series has traditionally favoured established performance marques. So, the SU7 Ultra’s debut signals how seriously Polyphony Digital is taking Xiaomi’s high-end EV ambitions.
According to Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi, the SU7 Ultra was extensively evaluated in the real world before making the jump to the game.
Yamauchi test-drove the car at circuits including the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Tsukuba. In addition, Xiaomi’s engineers worked directly with Polyphony Digital to ensure the in-game model mirrors the real car’s behaviour as closely as possible. Xiaomi’s own vehicle dynamics team even travelled to the studio in Japan for final validation.
On paper, the SU7 Ultra fits right in. Xiaomi’s flagship EV uses a tri-motor setup delivering a combined 1,548hp and 1,770Nm of torque. This enables a claimed 0–100km/h time of 1.98 seconds. It rides on an 800V electrical architecture and supports ultra-fast charging. Furthermore, it blends track-focused hardware including adaptive dampers and air suspension with everyday usability.
That performance isn’t just theoretical either. In April 2025, the production SU7 Ultra set a 7:04.957 lap time at the Nürburgring. This broke the record for electric executive cars. It is a milestone that likely helped secure its place in Gran Turismo 7’s carefully curated garage.
To celebrate the launch, Polyphony Digital will also run a two-week Monza lap-time challenge using the SU7 Ultra. This will give players a chance to see how Xiaomi’s EV stacks up against more familiar performance names.
For Xiaomi, it’s another step in positioning the SU7 Ultra as more than a tech curiosity. And for Gran Turismo players, it’s a rare opportunity to try one of the most talked-about new performance EVs, even if only on a virtual track.
