Hey Hackers!
Welcome back to 3 Tech Polls, HackerNoon’s Weekly Newsletter that curates results from our Poll of the Week, and 2 related polls around the web. Thank you for having voted in our polls in the past.
This week, we’re talking about something near and dear to every programmer’s heart: their go-to language. Specifically, if they had to use one language for the rest of their life, which would they choose? Plus, we’ll also take a look at AI-assisted coding and try to determine which AI company is the best in that regard.

Vote in this week’s poll: How do you want your AI to sound when it talks to you?
:::
HackerNoon Poll:
If you could only use one programming language for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Surprisingly, or maybe unsurprisingly, there was one clear winner, and that was Python with a whoppping 37%. 2nd place was JavaScript, which won a quarter of the vote with 25%. Firmly in third place was the “Other” option. Then in 4th and 5th place were Go and C++, with 12% and 10% respectively.
442 HackerNoon community members voted in this poll, and they also made their voices heard in the comment section.
One user noticed a popular language missing and commented:
Why is Rust missing?
Another user was surprised by the outcome of the poll and wondered why their favorite language was in last place:
I love C++. I thought C++ was, if not number one, then certainly among the top three, but it’s dead last.
And finally, one user used this poll as a way to reminisce and chronicle their programming journey:
C++ is my fav, it’s how I learned to code. Then it was C, C#, Python. Overall Python is the most complete of all, but I think JavaScript is the most simple and easy to learn.
In the end, the HackerNoon community chose Python as the one language they would use for the rest of their lives.
But now, let’s take a peek at what the rest of the internet is saying about coding and how AI is impacting this field.

🌐 From Around the Web: Polymarket Pick
Which company will have the best AI model for coding at the end of 2025?
AI-assisted coding is here, and many programmers have been implementing it in their code. But with so many AI companies and so many AI models to choose from, it can be hard to determine which one is the best. At least, that’s what it seemed like. However, it appears that the voters of Polymarket have clearly chosen a winner.
93% of Polymarket voters believe that OpenAI will have the best AI model for coding by the end of December 2025. Anthropic is the next best with 4%. Google is in third place with 1%, and every other company after that is under 1%.
🌐From Around The Web: Kalshi Pick
Which AI company will have the best coding model on Jan 1, 2026?
Over on Kalshi, things are almost exactly the same. The same question was asked, and the same winner sprang up. 91% of Kalshi voters believe that OpenAI will have the best coding model by the end of the year. 7% believe it will be Anthropic, and 4% have their faith in Google.
The internet has decided: if you’re going to stick with one programming language for the rest of your life, it should be Python. And if you’re going to use an AI model to help you with your coding, make sure it’s one from OpenAI.
That’s all for this week.
Until next time, Hackers!
