New Ligue 1 broadcaster, DAZN will allow you to watch matches for free. The British platform, which is experiencing a complicated start to the season, has just announced the launch of a “7-day trial period from September 30”. The formula is therefore already available and allows – for the first time – football fans to benefit from the platform legally without paying. DAZN offers free and complete access to its service for 7 days, with no obligation to subscribe.
At the end of the trial period, the subscriber is free to cancel without paying a cent. He can also be convinced to take out a subscription at 29.99 euros with commitment, or 39.99 euros without commitment. Obviously, DAZN hopes that this new formula will tip the scales in its favor. The firm mentions a “unique opportunity which allows you to discover the entire DAZN ecosystem, without commitment”.
Why is DAZN offering a free trial?
If you decide to take advantage of this trial period, you will be able to watch the Ligue 1 matches of the seventh day for free. New DAZN subscribers will be able to see the following 8 posters:
- Marseille – Angers (Friday October 4, 8:45 p.m.)
- Lille – Toulouse (Saturday October 5, 7:00 p.m.)
- Rennes – Monaco (Saturday October 5, 9:00 p.m.)
- Lyon – Nantes (Sunday October 6, 3:00 p.m.)
- Brest – Le Havre (Sunday October 6, 5:00 p.m.)
- Strasbourg – Lens (Sunday October 6, 5:00 p.m.)
- Reims – Montpellier (Sunday October 6, 5:00 p.m.)
- Nice – Paris-SG (Sunday October 6, 8:45 p.m.)
The poster for Saturday October 5 at 5:00 p.m., Saint-Étienne – Auxerre, will be broadcast on BeIn sport and available later on DAZN. The period chosen by the streaming service is not trivial. It coincides with a week dedicated to football, with a day of European Cups. Matches which will all be accessible via Canal+ offers, which is making up for the loss of Ligue 1 to DAZN by offering 546 European cup matches.
Ligue 1 will resume on Friday evening, before taking a break due to an international break. This explains why DAZN is offering its trial period from September 30 to October 13. The British streaming platform is trying by all means to convince, even though it has faced numerous criticisms since its launch.
DAZN wants to gain new subscribers
Football fans, specialists and even players in the world of Ligue 1, criticize subscriber prices which they consider excessive. An opinion that management does not share, like the CEO of DAZN France and Switzerland, Brice Daumin, who ensures that the “prices offered are not off-market”. However, the service tried to seduce by reducing the prices of its subscription. From September 10 to 22, it was possible to subscribe with commitment at the Price of 19.99 euros per month instead of 29.99 euros per month. The no-commitment formula was priced at 19.99 euros per month for two months, instead of 39.99 euros per month. DAZN even played overtime until Sunday September 29 inclusive.
While many football fans are tempted by illegal solutions like IPTV or watching matches via Telegram, DAZN is trying a new approach. On the other hand, the platform does not yet seem willing to make its offers really more affordable.
