On Saturday, ZEISS has broken ground on an integrated Greater China headquarters campus in Shanghai’s Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, marking its largest single infrastructure investment in China to date. The project will span more than 50,000 square meters and combine research and development, management functions, a customer experience center and high-end manufacturing facilities.
The new site is intended to serve as a key hub within ZEISS’s global innovation network. ZEISS entered China in 1999, and the country became its largest market globally in 2021. The new campus is expected to deepen collaboration with local research institutions and further integrate ZEISS into China’s innovation ecosystem, supporting advanced manufacturing and technology development.
