Tip 1: The right network
A rock-solid basis and enormous help for introverts is the right network of like-minded people and people who are good for them. These people, for example within a good mastermind group, know their own strengths. They give tips and are happy to give you the necessary kick in the ass.
Thanks to digitalization and various online networks such as LinkedIn, you don’t necessarily get new contacts just through active contact, but passively through mutual acquaintances. This is beneficial for introverts and takes the pressure off.
One advantage of introverted self-employed people is the focus on a good network. Instead of collecting many contacts, high-quality exchange is preferred. However, it is important to keep the network up to date and communicate regularly.
Tip 2: Expand your comfort zone regularly
Leaving your comfort zone is like a muscle. The more you train, the better you get at it. The quiet little room, the second row, does not bring any progress; the step into visibility is unavoidable. Expertise is a good tool for expanding your comfort zone. Your own vision is worth seeing.
Tip 3: The right marketing strategy
Introverted self-employed people are usually not loud-mouthed. Marketing should work quietly for them. The right marketing strategy can work wonders because you can choose the right medium yourself.
A podcast is great for people who like to talk but don’t necessarily want to be seen all the time. YouTube allows creative scope for your own artistic work. A newsletter is an excellent way to combine tips and your own offerings. I recommend concentrating on two marketing channels in order to get the most out of them.
Tip 4: Don’t neglect self-care
There is strength in calm, or in the case of introverts: you draw strength from calm. It is particularly important to make sure you take enough breaks to avoid burning out in the worst case scenario. It’s not just about taking a quick walk around the block during your lunch break.
Rather, they should do something good for themselves, switch off and listen to what their body and mind really need. Even if you are just starting out on your own and have a lot of tasks to do at once, it shouldn’t become the rule to work ‘by yourself and all the time’.
Tip 5: Learn a leadership role
Depending on the business concept, sooner or later employees will be hired or freelancers will be hired. This is actually a must so that you no longer have to handle all the tasks in an online business alone. That’s why it’s important to deal with a leadership role as soon as possible. This starts with outsourcing simple or repetitive tasks, such as entering data, entering blog articles, planning social media content or creating graphics based on a template.
Later it will be about handing over entire areas of work such as social media management, community management, online or email marketing. Here too, digitalization has its advantages again, because communication can take place online – which gives introverted founders time leeway. And they need one thing above all: role models, successful introverted role models who have already left their comfort zone and built a business. It’s time to put the lie behind your prejudices and use the qualities you’re given to your advantage.
