The alert is sounded by Microsoft in its message center for Windows and the health status of the operating system. For Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 in version 24H2the end of support is fixed to the October 13, 2026.
This alert also concerns Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016, while the end of main support for Windows Server 2022 will occur on the same date of October 13.
The consequences of this end of support
After the deadline, devices running Windows 11 24H2 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 will no longer receive updates.
” Devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security updates and non-security previews containing protections against the latest threats “, writes Microsoft.
The announcement does not concern everyone. Professional customers using the editions Enterprise et Education Windows 11 24H2 will continue to receive mainstream support until October 12, 2027.
Upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2
The solution recommended by Microsoft is naturally the upgrade. Affected users are encouraged to upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2. As versions 24H2 and 25H2 are based on the same technical basethe jump is quick via Windows Update and without the fear of compatibility concerns.
