According to the Survey on the use of ICT and electronic commerce in Spanish companies by the INE (National Institute of Statistics), 21.1% of companies with 10 or more workers used AI in the first quarter of 2025. Regarding the percentage of companies that use AI, it has reached 13.4%.
On the other hand, 44.3% used paid cloud computing services. By sector, services is the one that purchases cloud computing services the most, 48.7%. Also the one that uses the most AI: 25.7%. They are also those that have employees who do data analysis: 45.6%.
Regarding Internet sales, 26.6% of companies made sales through electronic commerce, with an increase in the generated business volume of 3.5% compared to 2023, up to 399.9368 million euros.
67.4% of employees at companies with 10 or more workers had access to the Internet for business purposes in the first quarter of 2025; and 69.7% of companies with an Internet connection used social media, 5 points more than in the first quarter of 2024. Of the total number of companies with an Internet connection, the percentage of those with a website has risen 2.7 points, to 84.5%.
In addition, the percentage of companies with ICT specialists increases 1.1 points to 16.8% in the first quarter of 2025. 6.5% of companies have women ICT specialists. 37.4% of companies with 10 or more employees allowed their workers to telework in the first three months of 2025, a percentage that rises to 78% for companies with a minimum of 250 employees. On average, the number of days a week they telework is 2.4. 20% of employees telework regularly, 0.2% more than in the first quarter of 2024.
In addition, 79.9% of companies with less than 10 employees had an Internet connection in the first quarter of 2025, 3.9 points less than in the first quarter of 2024. Regarding the percentage of companies that use AI, it has reached 13.4%.
Companies with 10 or more employees whose headquarters are in Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country are those that have the greatest intensity in the use of ICT in the period analyzed in the INE survey. Those with the lowest percentages are those of Cantabria, Ceuta and Melilla.
The main objective of the Survey on the use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and electronic commerce in companies is to obtain the necessary data to measure the use of ICT and electronic commerce in companies in the member countries of the European Union.
