This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

Summary

  • Amazon unveils three redesigned Kindle Scribe models, all with 11-inch glare-free displays.
  • The highlight of the new models is the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, the first-ever color Kindle Scribe.
  • The new Kindle Scribe design is ultra-thin, which Amazon says feels “just like paper,” measuring just 5.4mm thick.

The Kindle Scribe was first introduced in 2022 as a combination of Amazon’s Kindle e-reader and a digital notebook, designed for students, professionals, or anyone who enjoys taking notes or prefers a larger screen for reading. In 2024, Amazon updated the Kindle Scribe with an improved pen and new features, and now, at its 2025 fall hardware event, Amazon has revealed the future of the Kindle Scribe.

Amazon has announced a completely new Kindle Scribe lineup, offering not just one model but three. The options include the Kindle Scribe with a front light, a model without one, and the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. All three models feature a new ultra-thin design, which Amazon describes as “just like paper,” measuring only 5.4mm thick and weighing 400 grams.

All three new Kindle Scribe models are equipped with an 11-inch glare-free display. The highlight of the new lineup is the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, which is the first-ever color Kindle Scribe.

“Kindle Scribe Colorsoft features the same new design and provides a fluid color writing experience,” Amazon said in a press release. “To create colors that are soft and don’t hurt your eyes like an LCD display, we used our custom-built Colorsoft display technology, which has a color filter and light guide with nitride LEDs to enhance color without washing out the details.”

All three of Amazon’s new Kindle Scribe models will be available in the US later this year, with the new Kindle Scribe (without a front light) starting at $430, the Kindle Scribe (with a front light) starting at $500, and the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft starting at $630. The new Kindle Scribes will also be available in Germany and the UK in early 2026.
