The who’s who of the computing world are gathering in Taipei, Taiwan once again for the Computex 2025 expo. Here are a few things we’re looking forward to next week.

Computex 2025 gets underway on May 19 with the keynote press conference featuring some of the biggest names in the computing realm.

Major players like Nvidia, AMD, Intel, ASUS, MSI, MediaTek, ARM will be in attendance with new products expected to take us into the second half of 2025 in strong fashion.

We’re expecting a ton of news on generative AI, some new GPUs, new NPUs, more CPUs, and maybe some other things ending in PU too. New consumer hardware including handheld gaming products to rival the Steam Deck and the Switch 2.

However, here are five things that could potentially stand out during this important event on the tech calendar.

ASUS ROG Ally 2 with Xbox variant

Computex 2025 might see the launch of the ASUS ROG Ally 2, a successor to one of our favourite PC gaming handhelds, the ROG Ally X, and it’s going to come in two editions according to recent reports.

It’ll come in white once again and a new black edition that could be the first ever Xbox branded handheld, according to recent rumours and leaked images from an FCC filing.

That model could boast a serious power boost thanks to the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor which could make it a serious problem for the Steam Deck.

Nvidia’s keynote address

Last year Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sparked “Jensanity” among attendees in Taiwan. Huang is treated like a rock god in his home country. So we’d expect his keynote address in the early hours of May 19 could be very newsworthy.

Rumours suggest the company is moving into the PC CPU market. Nvidia is said to be joining forces with MediaTek on new Arm-based N1 chips for Windows PCs. These AI CPUs might not be available on products for more than 12 months but it’ll be interesting to see what the pair have in mind.

You can watch the keynote with the embedded video below.

Acer’s new OLED laptops

Acer is planning to showcase a series of new OLED laptops running the latest generation Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics chips. The Acer Swift X 14 and Acer Switch X 14 AI are the pick of the bunch. They give you the choice of (up to) Intel Core Ultra 9 and (upto) AMD Ryzen AI 9 CPUs, but otherwise are identical. That 3K 2800 x 1800 screen sounds sumptuous.

Intel’s GPU fightback

Intel has taken a battering this year as ARM-based PCs continue to cut in on the chipmaker’s traditional turf. However, the company has confirmed new Intel Arc Pro GPUs are going to showing up in Taipei. Gamers asked for a version of the Arc B770 for gamers, and Intel sold them to ‘stay tuned’.

It’s unlikely to challenge the best graphics cards on the market, but it may compete with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060, or the expected AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT. Oh, and that’s another thing to look forward to!

A full suite of MSI products

MSI has shown its hand for Computex 2025 with a full suite of products on the way, including a new Meg Vision X AI desktop for gamers, which has the Nvidia Force RTX 5090 GPU and the Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU doing the heavy lifting. The company is also planning to showcase a new 27-inch 2K QD-OLED gaming monitor with real-time human detection, which it says is a world first. The monitor – dubbed the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 – will have a 500Hz refresh rate.

There’s also rumours of a new MSI Claw handheld running the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, which might atone for the poorly received MSI A1M. No confirmation on that front yet.
