“The 355” is the perfect example of why you should take what critics say with a grain of salt. This action thriller from Oscar-nominated director Simon Kinberg was a box office bomb back in 2022, making just $27.8 million on a $75 million budget. But now it seems to have finally found its audience on streaming. “The 355” wasted no time shooting to the top of the Netflix top 10 after arriving on August 21, and it’s earned a seriously impressive 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (compared to a 24% critics’ score).

Netflix subscribers who have already watched it are no doubt looking for more high-octane movies where women kick ass and take names. Thankfully, there are plenty to be found across the best streaming services. We’ve rounded up the best action thrillers with women ensemble casts that team up on risky missions to take down baddies. Here are five more movies like “The 355” and where to stream them.

‘Gunpowder Milkshake’ (Netflix)

“Gunpowder Milkshake” is what happens when filmmakers ask ‘What if ‘John Wick’ starred a woman instead?” This neon-soaked, hyper-violent action thriller stars Karen Gillan as Sam, a lethal assassin employed by The Firm, the same shadowy organization her mother (Lena Headey) once served. But when a job goes sideways and Sam is forced to protect an 8-year-old girl, she teams up with her estranged mom and a trio of formidable allies known as the Librarians (Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett, and Carla Gugino) to bring down The Firm once and for all.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn easily stole the spotlight in the original “Suicide Squad,” so it’s only natural that she gets her own spin-off. Though “Birds of Prey” didn’t exactly soar at the box office, it’s a wildly entertaining dose of comedic anti-heroics that deserves more love. Set after her split with the Joker, Harley is determined to carve out her own identity. But that’s no simple task with Gotham crime lord Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) on the rampage. Robbie leads a stellar ensemble, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s brilliantly awkward Huntress and Rosie Perez as a frustrated cop who can’t catch a break. And yes, the now-iconic breakfast sandwich scene alone makes it worth the watch.

Watch On

One of the best action movies of the past 15 years, director David Leitch’s “Atomic Blonde” is another must-watch for more women-led, high-octane thrills. It’s set in the ’80s, and Charlize Theron absolutely kills it as Lorraine Broughton, a British MI6 agent dispatched to Berlin to secure a list of double agents that could prolong the Cold War if it falls into the wrong hands. There, she’s forced to shift allegiances and team up with rogue agent David Percival (James McAvoy) to survive, staying one step ahead of both KGB pursuers and ruthless traitors in her own organization.

Watch On

Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 slasher “Death Proof” is one of the director’s most controversial, but it shares a similar hook to “The 355:” a maniac on a rampage pisses off the wrong ladies, who will stop at nothing to get their revenge. Kurt Russel stars as Hollywood stunt double “Stuntman” Mike, who gets his kicks by killing women with his car. But when he eyes a new trio to target, Abernathy (Rosario Dawson), Kim (Tracie Thoms), Lee (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Zoë Bell (playing herself), he ends up getting more than he bargained for. Drawing heavily from the grindhouse action flicks of the 1970s, “Death Proof” blends razor-sharp dialogue, high-octane car chases, and a killer soundtrack for a pulse-pounding ride.

Watch On

It’s no surprise that Viola Davis proves once again she can do it all, earning widespread acclaim for her powerhouse performance in “The Woman King.” Inspired by the real-life Agojie, the all-women warrior army of the Dahomey Kingdom in West Africa, the film follows General Nanisca (Davis), a revered commander in charge of training the next generation of fighters. Though unmatched in combat, Nanisca champions diplomacy, frequently clashing with King Ghezo (John Boyega) over the kingdom’s future. As she takes young recruits under her wing, one in particular reveals an unexpected bond with her. The film’s standout strength lies in its gripping battle sequences, with each clash of spear and machete landing with visceral impact.
