French Biomonde Solidarité chooses IDA software for inventory management
Launched in February 2023 by Mateo Beacco, Mathieu Grosso and Alex Chataigner, IDA’s software continues to grow. After several supermarket chains, it is now Biomonde Solidarité’s turn to adopt this AI-based optimization tool.
Increasing sales and reducing food waste is the goal of IDA’s AI-based software. The solution promises to optimize the management of fruit and vegetables in both local stores and hypermarkets. Since last year, IDA has already won over a number of chains: Système U, Naturalia, Provencia, Biocoop, Les Comptoirs de la Bio and even Carrefour. Biomonde Solidarité has also now opted for IDA.
Minimizing product loss on the shelf
“30% less waste, 5% more turnover”, says Mateo Beacco, one of the co-founders. “The managers of the fruit and vegetable department usually use a cadence system to place their orders and can enter up to 400 lines per day, which amounts to 500 to 700 hours per year”. According to Mateo, the current market management software is designed for dry products and therefore not adapted to fresh products. “If the purchasing manager orders too much, he loses up to 10% of his turnover and if he orders too little, he can lose up to 15% each year due to stock shortages”.
With the IDA software, the entire ordering process is optimized thanks to algorithms that suggest orders based on different parameters (more than a hundred) such as the weather, the shelf life of the product, seasonality and sales history. “A new approach that takes into account the parameters specific to fruit and vegetables by proposing a mathematical optimization based on profit margins, packaging, price elasticity, etc. This new approach maximizes profit margins and minimizes losses.” Another advantage offered by the developers is the possibility of consolidating orders into a single order through a program that is directly connected to the purchasing centers and suppliers.
Collaboration with Biomonde Solidarité
Biomonde Solidarité, the third largest cooperative of independent organic traders in France, has chosen IDA to manage ultra-fresh products in all of its 145 stores. The partnership aims to address a critical challenge: combating food waste by optimizing the supply of traditional fruits and vegetables using innovative AI solutions. Thanks to this partnership, Biomonde Solidarité claims to have seen a 30% to 50% reduction in product loss, an 80% reduction in stockouts, and greater availability of new, more affordable products for all its customers.
