Virtual reality headsets are struggling to find a place in the hearts of the general public. Despite recent attempts by Meta and especially Apple to open this technology to the masses, the average Joe still doesn’t want a laptop in front of his eyes.
While waiting to convince millions of people to take the plunge, brands specializing in virtual reality headsets are focusing on the only exploitable niche: video game players. They are indeed increasingly numerous in using virtual reality headsets for their online games. And it is them that HTC has just targeted with its new Vive Focus Vision.
A new, more complete product
This virtual reality headset is not the company’s first and is above all an evolution of the Focus 3 launched in 2021 by the brand. It also has the same resolution (2448 X 2448) and uses the same Snapdragon XR2 chip. For Shen Ye, product manager at HTC, the arrival of this new headset marks a real step in the development of this technology.
He hopes that the Focus Vision will be the perfect product to implant more and more devices in homes around the world. Because if gamers are the brand’s primary target, they are far from being the only category targeted by this product. Like all virtual reality headsets, HTC’s latest can take over your computer.
In concrete terms, it is possible to connect your computer to the headset using a cable. Once this is done, all your windows appear floating in the air. It is then possible to use your computer quite naturally, but in a 120° virtual environment.
A high-end technical sheet
To establish itself in an already crowded market, HTC is banking on high-end components for its headset. The brand thus offers a DisplayPort connection going (with a software update) to 120 Hz. The Focus Vision has an internal memory of 128 GB, and a slot for an additional 2 TB.
The arrival also has a built-in battery that allows the headset to operate for 20 minutes in total autonomy. It is possible to pre-order the headset until October 17. For all those who place their order before this date, HTC offers several accessories, including a 5-meter cable, to facilitate the connection to the PC.
The Focus Vision is available for €1199. You can pre-order it directly on the Vive website here.
