The Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning (HCLL) presents “Artificial Intelligence Explained” on Tuesday, September 24 at the Event Center in Park Rapids.
This program from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM is free to the public and accessible to the disabled.
According to a press release, “AI Revolution,” a 2024 episode of the PBS series “Nova,” asks: “Can we harness the power of artificial intelligence to solve the world’s most challenging problems without creating an uncontrollable force that ultimately destroys humanity?”
The cover of the hour-long video adds: “With the rise of ChatGPT, the world has been captivated by the power and potential of next-generation AI, with its ability to answer complex questions, write essays, generate realistic-looking images – even pass a bar exam – all in a matter of seconds.”
The press release makes clear that such enormous power brings with it deep ethical, moral and practical dilemmas that would have been unthinkable a few years ago.
At the end of the video, the audience is given the opportunity to comment and discuss the topic.
Our newsroom occasionally reports on stories under the name “staff.” Often, the name “staff” is used when rewriting basic newsletters that come from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and require little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a news story has multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from several sources. If outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
