AMERONGEN In a modern industrial hall overlooking a meadow, an employee tests a machine specially developed for a very large laundry in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Once it is certain that the hardware and software do what they are supposed to do, the device is transported with the rest of the custom-made furnishings of an enormous laundry. The families of employees who assemble the device on location will receive flowers from the boss on Saturday.
When you look around WSP for the first time, you will be faced with one surprise after another. Here people come up with mega-large laundries in consultation with customers all over the world. They also make the innovative machines and they ensure that they continue to work through proactive service, support and aftercare. “We see hiccups before the customer does,” says commercial director Hans-Willem Eppinga.
He feels like a fish in water at the beautiful family business that owner Maarten Ploeg founded thirty years ago and which has doubled in size every five years since then.
With just under a hundred employees, WSP is a serious player in the global market for high-productivity laundries. Yet it is immediately noticeable that the good, informal atmosphere of a family business has been retained. How do they do that? “We strive for a good balance between work and private life. We believe well-being is important. For example, on Thursday afternoon during working hours we go mountain biking with a group in this beautiful region,” says Hans-Willem. Career development is also important; Anyone who enters with an MBO diploma can work four days and use the fifth working day to follow a HBO course.
In order to continue to grow, WSP needs ten new employees per year at different levels; MBO, HBO and WO. There is no special training for making laundries. You have to learn a lot of process knowledge by doing. WSP expects that in the coming years there will be room for mechanical and software engineers, control technicians, panel builders, system administrators, IT developers and installation employees who also want to work on location.
Anyone who has finished school or studies can apply for one of the vacancies on the site: werkenbijwsp.com. Anyone who works elsewhere and feels attracted by the corporate culture that links trusted values to an innovative working environment is also welcome to look into a job at WSP. Are you looking for an internship? Be sure to inquire about the possibilities.
