To address privacy concerns, Microsoft now requires Windows Hello authentication before users can use Recall. In addition, screenshots of sensitive information, such as financial data and personal identification data, are prevented. These screenshots are saved locally and not sent to Microsoft servers.
Users also have more control over their data. They can delete all screenshots with one click or choose to delete screenshots from a specific period. Microsoft has confirmed that Recall can be uninstalled from Windows 11 devices.
The Recall feature is intended for compatible Windows 11 PCs and uses AI to perform visual searches. Although the feature was originally planned for release earlier this year, the launch was postponed due to privacy concerns.
