Today, October 8, begins SAP TechEdSAP’s annual conference at which the organization will present pioneering innovations in AI, putting its generative AI co-pilot Joule at the center of a new way of doing business.
According to Muhammad Alam, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, for Product Engineering, at the event the company “will show how it is guiding the future of technology for companies with the power of AI, cloud and customer-centric solutions”. Furthermore, Alam has highlighted that “SAP innovations in AI will transform business in the next era of AI, leveraging the company’s unparalleled business and technological expertise” –
The three big areas that SAP news will focus on at the conference are upskilling the SAP Joule co-pilot, including collaborative AI agents with tailored skills to complete complex multidisciplinary tasks; solutions to help developers unlock the full value of SAP data by connecting it to rich business context; as well as new tools to ensure developers can continue to drive Business AI innovation.
Collaborative nature of agents
On the first anniversary of its launch, SAP Joule marks a milestone in the way customers do business: SAP has expanded its co-pilot with the introduction of collaborative multi-agent AI systems.
Alam wanted to emphasize the importance of “the collaborative nature of the agents. In recent months we have heard a lot about other people’s AI agents, but not about how these agents interact with others to, together, solve more complex business challenges.”.
These capabilities are designed to solve business problems by automating complex workflows across multiple lines of business, leveraging SAP’s access to business data. Furthermore, autonomous agents will revolutionize collaboration between humans and AI.
Multi-agent systems deploy specialized AI agents to address specific tasks and allow them to collaborate on intricate business workflows, adapting their strategies to achieve shared goals.. These AI agents will increase productivity by breaking down silos and freeing workers to focus on areas where human ingenuity is key.
Different use cases will also be presented at SAP TechEd, including one focused on financial accounting that uses autonomous AI agents to streamline key financial processes, by automating payments and invoice processing and updating the system. accounting book, while quickly addressing inconsistencies or errors; and another for discrepancy management, which uses autonomous AI agents to analyze and resolve these types of scenarios, including incorrect and missing invoices, unapplied credits, and denied or duplicate payments.
According to Alam, “We always try to simplify our customers’ lives by improving business processes with appropriate AI technology and relevant use cases.”.
Helping businesses harness the true power of data
The innovations introduced by SAP are also based on its experience in business data. SAP has announced SAP Knowledge Graph, a new knowledge graph solution that will unlock the full value of SAP data in SAP AI Core by connecting it to the rich business context stored in SAP business applications. “This solution anchors Joule’s co-pilot in companies’ business data to be able to offer more reliable and contextualized information, with much fewer inaccuracies.“Aman pointed out.
SAP Knowledge Graph bases AI on SAP-specific business semantics under cross-relationships, reducing the risk of inaccuracies and irrelevant results and making it easier for organizations to build intelligent applications and leverage generative AI more effectively.
It will be accessible in SAP Datasphere and Joule in the first quarter of 2025 and, by offering “out-of-the-box” relationships between business entities such as purchase orders, invoices and customers, the solution can significantly reduce the complexity of manual data modeling.
SAP has also announced the launch of new embedded capabilities of data lake for SAP Datasphere. This helps businesses store raw data in its original context, enabling improved decision-making, operational efficiency, and AI-driven innovation.
Aman has indicated that “SAP is adding new capabilities that enable business users to integrate and draw meaningful insights from a diverse set of data sources and provide contextual insights for AI use cases.”.
Training developers
The third pillar of SAP TechEd announcements is aimed at training developers.
SAP is enhancing SAP Build – the company’s platform for extending its solutions – with new generative AI capabilities and providing direct access to ABAP tools from the platform itself, making it easier for developers to create applications that help customers better manage your businesses.
New generative AI development capabilities such as code explanation and documentation search in SAP Build will reduce the development time required by Java and JavaScript developers.
SAP Build has also incorporated an Extensibility Wizard feature that will allow developers to access the platform directly from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, simplifying the extension process.
On top of all this, SAP has announced that it has fulfilled its commitment to upskill 2 million people worldwide by 2025. And it has achieved this through both premium guided learning and free learning resources available on SAP. Learning.
Through SAP Learning Hub the company has helped reduce the world’s digital skills gap through role-based certifications, free training materials, hands-on developer opportunities, and more. And it continues to expand its growing portfolio of AI-related learning opportunities, such as courses on generative AI, AI ethics, and advanced enterprise AI tools and platforms from SAP.
News in the ecosystem
“We know that we cannot do everything alone and that is why I must mention our ecosystem. Having an open ecosystem is critical to the success of our customers and to our own success as SAP. At SAP TechEd we are announcing expanded partnerships with leading companies like Anthropic. Meta or Mistral AI”Amam pointed out.
- Anthropic: SAP is introducing a new capability within SAP AI Core that makes it easier to create generative AI use cases for SAP applications with Anthropic models.
- Meta: The alliance with Meta is the second that it continues to promote to execute its multi-provider strategy for LLMs in order to offer its clients and internal developers greater profitability and freedom of choice.
- Mistral AI: SAP is expanding this alliance to enhance ABAP LLM code generation capabilities and development tools.
The age of AI means being in the cloud
Muhammad Alam, wanted to draw attention to “A key point for us: the success of companies in the age of AI implies being in the cloud. We are completely committed to our clients’ success and helping them make this transition. At SAP TechEd, SAP is making that move easier than ever for our customers with new offerings that enable transformation to the cloud. We’re announcing new generative AI functionality for RISE with SAP customers that helps them move to the cloud much faster. Clients and consultants will have expert response, proactive guidance and task automation to support a successful transition”.
According to Alam, the news presented both at SAP TechEd and at the rest of the events that the company will hold this fall “They will expand our complete portfolio of solutions to show our clients how to expand their businesses to new markets; how to activate AI capabilities or develop your own; how to create and integrate your own applications in the SAP environment and stay in control with analytical solutions”.
