The world of Android smartphones is in turmoil with the arrival of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Qualcomm’s new SoC, successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, will equip many models, including the future Magic7 series. Honor will unveil its range on October 30 in China, but the manufacturer is present at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 to unveil its vision of AI. The theme is central and Honor has unveiled several AI features that will be integrated into its new devices, including the first embedded AI Agent for an open ecosystem. Honor also unveiled the first real-time graphics rendering via NPU for gaming.
AI Autopilot: Honor presents the first integrated AI agent
The first major new feature of Magic7 will be the appearance of the first integrated AI agent. Honor confirms its IFA 2024 speech and its desire to offer a “open ecosystem in the industry” by offering an AI agent capable of placing meal orders from a simple text or voice command. The brand says that with user consent, the AI agent can learn from the user’s habits to “make intelligent decisions”such as understanding if a user prefers their coffee with coconut milk and adapting the order accordingly.
The examples are reminiscent of those chosen by Motorola to present the future of Moto AI, but Honor tries to go even further. The manufacturer makes its AI capable of spotting and canceling unwanted subscriptions across various applications. The agent also intends to intervene for travel planning, ticket reservation or even calendar management, notifications or file transfer. It will appear with MagicOS 9.0, which Honor will unveil on October 23 in China, on the Magic7 series.
On the Magic7 series, generative AI wants to redefine the mobile gaming experience
The future Magic7 series smartphones also want to revolutionize the mobile gaming experience thanks to a major innovation: the direct integration of generative AI into games. The Magic7 series will bring generative AI integrated directly into games and powered by NPU computing power, as well as the industry’s first real-time AI graphics rendering for mobile games. In practice, AI will be able to create content in real time within games and will provide richer and more realistic graphics. In addition, this Honor solution reduces the work of the graphics processor (GPU), which has a direct impact on performance and energy consumption. The phone heats up less and the battery lasts longer, in addition to providing a smoother gaming experience.
Finally, the Chinese brand’s collaboration with Qualcomm also involves MagicRing technology. Developed by Honor, it aims to strengthen connectivity between the firm’s different products (PCs, smartphones, tablets). The integration of AI should make it possible to take a new step, especially since the arrival of Qualcomm chips on Windows computers. Honor will facilitate exchanges with machines equipped with a Snapdragon, allowing for example to use the AI eraser of the Magic V3 on its MagicBook Art 14 or to use the Magic Pencil of the MagicPad 2 in Cocreator.
While Qualcomm and Honor are excited about this collaboration, some of these technologies are expected to come to other Android manufacturers. It remains to be seen how these new features related to AI will be integrated.
