There is news we would like to do without. After Free, Intermarché and the others, a new company has been added to the (now long) list of victims of cyberattacks in France. Early this morning, we learned that the streaming giant Molotov was targeted by a major hack. In total, alerts the company in an official email addressed to its users, 10.8 million accounts are affected. Names, first names, email addresses, but also date of birth and other personal information linked to the profiles of users of the service.

Millions of personal data stolen

In an official statement, Molotov details having been “victim of an intrusion into its information systems: unauthorized third parties have or access certain personal information, mainly contact and identification data. No banking details or passwords are affected. Although we do not anticipate any major impact, we advise you to be vigilant regarding possible suspicious or unsolicited emails“.

The company also indicates having taken “immediate measures to secure affected data“. Additional control measures have also been put in place to stem a possible rebound effect, and prevent a new intrusion attempt. In accordance with its legal obligations, it also reported the incident to the National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties.
