POKÉMON TCG Pocket has only just been released but already millions log in each day to play.
It’s all about collecting and battling, and people keep opening packs of cards in order to build the best deck.
Currently there is only one set of cards with three kinds of booster packs to pull from.
The Genetic Apex set features three booster packs, each of which includes its own exclusive cards.
Players can pick between Mewtwo, Charizard, and Pikachu to fill out their Genetic Apex collection.
However, there are only 226 cards in this original set, and much like Pokémon, fans always want more.
Luckily, players’ calls will soon be answered as The Pokémon Company has revealed that cards will be added to the game before the end of the year.
The statement reads: “To begin with, we plan to add new booster packs by the end of the year.”
It’s not clear if these booster packs will be part of Genetic Apex or not, but it seems from the description that it will include new cards.
If these new packs are part of Genetic Apex, it’s likely that they will be full-art, or other variations of existing cards.
Even more interesting is that the trading feature that is teased on the social hub has a release date.
The statement reads: “In addition, we are aiming to add a feature that allows certain cards to be traded starting in January, 2025.
“We are planning to gradually expand the selection of cards that are able to be traded.”
This likely means that common cards will be able to be traded very soon, but that we’ll have to wait a while longer to trade full art and immersive cards.
The statement also says that more features will be added in the future, but that the company isn’t ready to reveal what these are yet.
Gotta Collect ‘em All
People love collecting things, and with the popularity of the real-life card game, it seemed obvious that TCG Pocket would be a hit.
TCG Pocket is based around loot boxes though, and adding more cards will only encourage people to spend more money on the game.
Trading should counteract this somewhat, as people will no longer have to keep pulling cards to grab their missing cards.
We hope that Pokémon will keep an eye on player activity and not take advantage of its player base.
