There is a lot of excitement around the manga Sakamoto Days, even more so since the latter formalized its anime version in January 2025 on the Netflix and Crunchyroll platforms. Obviously, the slightest new visual, teaser or unpublished trailer serves as a formidable source of information for fans of the adventures of Taru Sakamoto, yesterday a slender and muscular hitman (a little), as effective and feared as “ Baba Yaga” in John Wick, today a father of a cushy family, with a potbelly and a fairly ordinary facial expression.
A real action comedy
And Sakamoto Days hit, is that shônen draws enormous inspiration from action cinema in general and assassin films in particular, all served by caustic humor and a hero who doesn’t look like much at first glance, but who is just monstrously powerful. Indeed, our ex-hitman, owner of a convenience store, is capable of temporarily losing his excess weight to regain his former figure, seriously boosting all his qualities and combat skills.

The ensemble is served with colorful characters, starting with his wife Aoi, who made him give up his old life, his daughter Hana and his young teammate, Shin, sent to kill him before rallying his cause. Because obviously, Taru Sakamoto’s past will pursue him. Yes, you don’t leave the crime syndicate like that.
See you in July for the end of season 1
We now know more about the arrival of the little band on the small screen thanks to the very latest trailer. The broadcast of the first season is dated January 11, 2025 on Netflix and Crunchyroll but it will not be available in its entirety. Indeed, a first part will be viewable on this date, to see part 2, you will have to wait until July 2025, without a specific date at the moment.
It’s the TMS studio, to which we owe the adaptation of Blue Boxwho is in charge of this anime. The latest images released present a good part of the lore of Sakamoto Daysincluding the main figures of the Order, a formidable special unit of the AJA, the Japanese association of assassins. Unit which will obviously hold a grudge against Taru Sakamoto.
For the moment, it is difficult to form a real opinion on the quality of the animation, the last trailer ultimately showing too little (even if some are already complaining about the subject). On the other hand, we can already appreciate – or not – the opening of the series, called Hashir Sakamoto, during this short minute and thirty-four seconds of video. Looking forward to January 11th.
