If you have questions about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra handset, then the latest leak may be able to answer your questions… especially if you are looking at the new design and wondering what will change on the outside of the anticipated smartphone.
The pictures, published by Android Authority, show OneUI 7.0 in use—the latest version of Samsung’s flavor of Android launched at the start of October. The surprise is not the presence of OneUI, but the device the code is running on… every sign points to this hardware being the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. This offers us an excellent chance to look at the design changes discussed previously.
First up is the move to a more rounded design. While the sharply shaped edges and corners of the Galaxy S24 helped the handset stand out (and maximised the internal volume), in practice, it was less than successful for many. The move to a more rounded profile, especially with the corners, will make the S25 Ultra design a more comfortable experience.
Then, you have the simplicity of a flat display panel. Samsung was one of the first companies to use a curved screen back on the Galaxy Note Edge, and the technology has been widely used by many manufacturers looking for unique designs. With the move back to a fully flat screen, Samsung is making a practical choice that I think will be rewarded by consumer interest when the phones are released—presumably in early 2025.
Finally, you can spot the all-important space for the Galaxy S-Pen stylus to be stored, not only confirming that Samsung will continue to support and expand the stylus but that it will continue to be housed inside the hardware, not hanging ungainly over an edge with a hopefully strong enough magnet.
The big question for the Galaxy community now is what sits inside the shell, with many hoping that Samsung will decide to unify the various regional differences and sell every Galaxy S25 family handset with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chipset, rather than a mix of Snapdragon and Samsung’s own Exynos chips.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 Ultra at an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in early Q1 2025.
