The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has confirmed that it is already The second call for PERTE Chip aid is open. This new phase of the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE), aimed at promoting the microelectronics and semiconductors sector, is endowed with 110 million euros.
On this occasion, this amount will initially be allocated to promoting projects related to microelectronics and its value chain. This is why this second call has been launched, which will be open until 2 p.m. on January 31.
Another call will be opened soon, also to help from PERTE Chip and endowed with 90 million euros, but focused on promoting IPCEI projects (Important Projects of European Interest). At the moment it is unknown when the deadline will open for companies to apply for the aid that will be offered.
The purpose of the first PERTE Chip aid call was to support Europe’s achievement of strategic autonomy in terms of chips. This is an initiative to take advantage of European technological and industrial capabilities to reduce dependence on other markets and avoid chip shortages, a very pronounced problem, especially in the automotive sector. In total, it awarded 65.4 million euros.
This second call will have the mission of strengthening the design and production capabilities of the semiconductor and microelectronics sector in Spain, addressing them from a comprehensive perspective, also contributing to the strategic autonomy of the European Union in the sector.
Announced by the Government almost three years ago, the PERTE Chip aims besides the attraction to Spain of investments of some relevance related to semiconductorsas well as new technologies related to them. It is one of the PERTE launched by the government as part of the EU Recovery, Transformation and Resilience plan.
