DeepSeek has become the top free app on Apple’s App Store in the US, overtaking ChatGPT. The developers say it “tops the leaderboard among open-source models and rivals the most advanced closed-source models globally.” According to app data research firm Sensor Tower, the artificial intelligence application has grown significantly in popularity among US users since its release on January 10.
Recently the company has limited DeepSeek AI. Before the limitation, it was made available for registration globally. The Chinese AI startup has now put restrictions on it and is allowing only Chinese users to sign up. Currently, to register on it, the user must have a Chinese mobile number.
The company has said that their system is being attacked on a large scale through malicious attacks due to which registration has been limited in India.
Before installing DeepSeek, make sure your computer meets its requirements. Since it does heavy data processing, a high-performance machine will be needed.
- Processor: High-speed CPU
- Storage: At least 4GB free storage
- RAM: Minimum 8GB
How to Use DeepSeek:
DeepSeek works very similar to ChatGPT.
STEP1: It can be used on smartphones, tablets or laptops via both web and app. Its app is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
STEP2: On the web, it can be used on the URL chat.depseek.com.
STEP3: At both places, you will first have to sign up through Google or an email ID and password. This is one-time, after which you will only have to log in when needed.
STEP4: After logging in, you will have a user interface similar to ChatGPT or Gemini.
Step5: There will be a text box below where you can type your question and send it.
STEP6: If you want to see the previous chat, you have to tap on the menu with two horizontal lines on the top left. Here you will see the chat history.
STEP7: On the other hand, to enable the DeepThink R1 model or to look for information on the Internet, you have to manually enable the feature by clicking on DeepThink (R1) and Search button. Here the ‘+’ button is given to upload documents or images.
