Yikes: MSI and Asus have been spotted increasing prices for Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards by as much as $300, depending on the model.
GPU shoppers noticed price increases in MSI’s online store on Wednesday. Although MSI doesn’t have any RTX 5000 GPUs in stock, it looks like the company is ready to charge extra.

The MSI products are also seeing price hikes on Newegg, where some listings show even higher price tags—an extra $40 to $60—for the same GPU models.
In addition, consumers and PCPartPicker.com recorded Newegg rolling out sizable price hikes for Asus RTX 5000 GPUs this week. For example, Asus’s OG Astral OC GeForce RTX 5090 has shot up from $2,799 to $3,079. Meanwhile, the price for the Asus PRIME GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB has ballooned from $999 to $1,264.99, although the products remain out of stock.

There’s no official word on what’s causing the price increases. But consumers are already blaming corporate greed and President Trump’s decision to impose 10% tariffs on all Chinese imports. Trump also plans on imposing tariffs on foreign-made chips, including those from Taiwan, which could cause larger price hikes.
Asus, Nvidia, and Newegg didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. MSI declined to comment.
