Juniper Networks Inc. today announced new additions to its wired access portfolio that allow companies of all sizes to scale their information technology operations, proactively mitigate risks and successfully facilitate digital transformation initiatives.

Debuting today, the new Juniper Networks EX4000 Series switches are designed from the ground up to sustainably support modern wired and wireless needs. The switches leverage artificial intelligence and cloud-native architecture to deliver Day 0,1 and 2+ wired and wireless experiences, including fast deployment, maximized uptime, zero-trust security, reduced operational costs and migration to Wi-Fi 7.

Day 0, 1, and 2+ wired/wireless experiences refer to the full network lifecycle. Day 0 covers planning and deployment, Day 1 focuses on initial configuration and activation, and Day 2+ involves ongoing operations, monitoring and optimization using AI-driven automation.

The EX4000 series expands the reach of AI-native operations with various form factors, including several noiseless models, allowing for the switches to be deployed in locations such as stores, clinics, campuses and branch offices. The AI used in the switches is claimed by Juniper to be proven to deliver up to 85% lower operating expenses, 90% fewer network trouble tickets and 85% fewer “truck rolls” — deployment of a technician to a physical location — for onsite troubleshooting.

The new switches have also been designed for fast deployment and configuration with zero-touch provisioning and automation. ZTP delivers hands-free configuration of EX Switches and is powered by flexible configuration templates that enable hundreds to thousands of switches to be deployed rapidly at large scale with minimal errors. The offering is complemented by the Mist AI Module application, which further accelerates installation by allowing IT staff to scan QR codes to claim, name and assign switches to sites in a matter of minutes.

Mist AI provides support for the AIOps capabilities in the Mist AI portfolio, including the Marvis Virtual Network Assistant with conversational capabilities, self-driving operations and digital experience twinning with Marvis Minis to proactively identify and resolve issues. The service supports dynamic packet capture to rapidly discover and resolve certain wired and wireless problems without unnecessary truck rolls, with service levels customizable through automated workflows that find and fix problems quickly.

The EX4000 Series offers Power over Ethernet across all ports to provide uninterrupted power delivery to Wi-Fi 7 access points, internet of things devices and other mission-critical systems. The switches have fast boot times and power up in just minutes, accelerating enterprise-wide rollouts and providing fast recovery from outages or other failures.

On the power side, the EX4000 Series also incorporates energy-efficient features such as intelligent fan speed adjustments and automatic PoE deactivation when ports are unused, allowing organizations to meet their environmental objectives whilst optimizing network efficiency.

“The EX4000 Series is more than just a switch — it’s a cornerstone for organizations navigating digital transformation in the next era of AI-Native Networking,” said Sanjoy Dey, Juniper’s vice president of product management, campus and branch. “The EX4000 was designed with customer input to better prepare organizations for today’s networks.”
