Hundreds of users have reported problems with Virgin and BT internet providers, as well as with Microsoft.

Problems began this morning, with customers saying they could not access landline internet.

Downdetector, a site which monitors outages, saw issues spike across thre three providers, with Virgin the worst affected.

Angry users tweeted at Virgin that they had been unable to connect to the internet, particularly to online games.

A spokesperson said last night: ‘We’re aware some customers are experiencing difficulty accessing some gaming services via Virgin Media broadband.

‘Our networks teams are currently investigating the issue.’

However, this morning, the problems seemed even worse, with over 9,000 reports of issues.

Several people said they the service provider has had intermittent service for weeks, and they were fed up now it seemed to be getting even worse.
