Honor has big plans for AI. At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company announced a new investment to create a seamless AI ecosystem across devices. Honor has pledged to invest $10 billion over the next five years to help facilitate the development of what the company calls an “intelligent phone” that promises to transform human-to-device relationships. The company didn’t say what this new phone might look like or how its technology will differ from what is currently on the market.
Honor also plans to revolutionize and integrate AI into other types of hardware, including computers, tablets, and wearable devices. Further, Honor hopes to lead the charge in integrating AI technology throughout the market, regardless of the brand.
“I am calling on all of us to unite together to address the myriad of challenges and opportunities of AI technology,” said Honor CEO James Li during his MWC keynote address. “This includes the industry becoming truly open, enabling seamless collaboration across different operating systems, and building a value-sharing AI device ecosystem.”

To emphasize the importance of cross-company collaboration, Li was joined onstage by representatives from Google Cloud, Qualcomm, Vodafone, and others in a show of industry solidarity.
Future Honor phones will have access to an AI Agent, while the Honor Magic7 series phones will receive access to the photo enhancement AI Upscale feature beginning in March.
