Google plans to exit Samsung Foundry and switch to TSMC by 2025, according to a report cited by Indian tech blog PiunikaWeb from Tech & Leaks Zone. The next two generations of Google’s Tensor processors are expected to use TSMC’s 3nm and 2nm processes, respectively. The current Tensor G4, used in the Pixel 8, is manufactured by Samsung Foundry with its 4nm process but offers minimal upgrades due to using older FO-PLP (fan-out panel-level packaging). The Tensor G5, for Google’s Pixel 10, will be made by TSMC using the 3nm process and advanced InFO-POP (integrated fan-out package on package). The Tensor G6, supporting the Pixel 11 series, will also be produced by TSMC using the 2nm process, the report said. [Icsmart, in Chinese]
