Open-source technology provider WS02 LLC today announced a set of platform updates that aim to empower artificial intelligence agents with platform-wide AI-native capabilities.
Announced at WS02Con 2025 in Barcelona, the new AI-native capabilities extend across the entire WSO2 software stack, all with a focus on making it easier for enterprises to create, integrate, manage and secure AI-driven digital services.
At the core of WSO2’s latest updates is an AI-native development approach that is designed to transform how enterprises build and deploy AI agents. WSO2’s platform now supports low-code and pro-code AI agent programming, allowing organizations to develop retrieval-augmented generation-based applications, AI-driven application programming interfaces and multimodal AI integrations.
The open platform integrates with AI libraries, agent frameworks and knowledge bases to allow enterprises to create scalable, secure and observable AI agents.
Key capabilities include AI-native development tools that integrate code and natural language, streamlining AI agent creation, along with AI API management solutions that enhance security, governance and monitoring through WSO2 API Manager and Bijira AI API management software-as-a-service. Additionally, AI-enhanced Identity & Access Management ensures that AI agents can be fully integrated into workflows, securing data access while enabling agent-to-agent delegation.
“AI is fundamentally changing the applications that enterprises are building, as well as how they are building them,” said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, founder and chief executive officer of WSO2. “WSO2 is on a transformational journey across the company to help our customers use AI to boost their own productivity and deliver great digital experiences.”
Beyond AI agents, WSO2 has introduced a broad array of AI-powered features across its core platforms.
Starting with the Choreo AI-native Internal Develop Platform, the platform is now available as both a SaaS offering and open-source software to give enterprises more flexibility in their deployment strategies. AI-powered enhancements include an AI Copilot for documentation and testing, automating routine tasks to reduce developer effort and improve efficiency.
Also new are AI-driven FinOps capabilities that leverage machine learning to optimize cloud costs, detect anomalies and provide cost-saving recommendations. A new Self-Service Data Planes feature allows enterprises to transform Kubernetes clusters into fully managed, AI-ready environments, streamlining infrastructure management.
API management also gets AI-powered governance with the latest WSO2 API Manager release and Bijira SaaS, giving enterprises advanced control over AI APIs with AI-driven design, governance and optimization. A new AI API Design Assistant allows for natural language-based API creation and interactive refinement, simplifying the development process while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
AI-driven governance can also now automate policy enforcement and, in doing so, reduce complexity in API security management. The Multi-Model AI API Gateway optimizes API requests dynamically by routing them across providers like OpenAI, Azure OpenAI and Mistral to ensure cost-effective and high-performance AI API consumption.
Rounding out the announcements, WSO2’s Integration Manager and Devant iPaaS now include built-in AI connectors that enable integration with large language models, vector databases and AI APIs for more intelligent workflows. Additionally, WSO2 Identity Manager and Asgardeo IDaaS now offer agent-native security controls, allowing AI-driven delegation and authentication workflows that enhance security and automation across enterprise environments.
“The modern application is AI native. The current software development lifecycle and software application stack are not,” said Rania Khalaf, chief AI officer at WSO2. “What is happening is a fundamental co-evolution of both — at every level and stage — as generative AI boosts developer productivity and pushes multi-modal understanding and synthesis deep into the development stack. WSO2 is positioned at the center of this shift with an open-source platform that, for the first time, brings AI-native capabilities to functions across the SDLC.”
WS02 is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $130 million over six rounds, according to Tracxn. Investors in the company include RedStart Labs India Pvt. Ltd., Info Edge (India) Ltd., Goldman Sachs Asset Management KP, Toba Capital, Pacific Controls Systems, Intel Capital Corp. and Cisco Investments.
