Filmed in Australia’s Scheyville National Park, Carcoar and the Blue Mountains, ‘Ten Pound Poms’ brings to light the story of the many Brits who participated in a post-war emigration scheme to Australia. Season 2 arrived this March, and if you’re wondering where to watch ‘Ten Pound Poms’ from anywhere in the world, this guide is for you.

The Best VPNs to Stream Ten Pound Poms Online
When you’re trying to access a show from another part of the world, you need a reliable VPN. Look for one with fast speeds for the best stream, servers in the country you need them and one that’s capable of bypassing streaming blocks. Here are our top recommendations.
- NordVPN — The best overall VPN that can easily unblock streaming services and has the fastest speeds. It has thousands of servers, including some in the U.K., and it’s easy to use. Choosing the two-year plan makes it a cheap option and there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee for peace of mind. Read our NordVPN review for more details.
- Surfshark — The cheapest VPN listed here, so long as you opt for the two-year plan. It’s easy to use, has fast speeds, servers in the U.K. and can access streaming services. It has a 30-day money-back guarantee in place and you can learn more in our Surfshark review.
- ExpressVPN — It has everything you need for a smooth stream, including excellent speeds and the ability to unblock streaming platforms. There are U.K. servers and its app is simple to use, even for VPN beginners. It is expensive, though you do get a great service and the longer plans bring the cost down. Take it for a spin with the 30-day money-back guarantee and read our ExpressVPN review to find out more.
Best Free VPN to Stream Ten Pound Poms: PrivadoVPN
Pairing a free VPN with a free streaming platform might sound brilliant, but many free VPNs aren’t good. If you’re set on using a free one, we recommend opting for PrivadoVPN. It’s safe, has unlimited data (speeds are capped after 10GB each month) and a free server in the U.K. Plus, it can access streaming services, as you can read in our PrivadoVPN review.
However, with the slower speeds after 10GB of data and other limitations, you’re better off using a premium VPN’s money-back guarantee. Doing so gives you full use of the VPN with no restrictions, including unlimited, uncapped data and faster speeds in general. Just make sure you cancel your subscription if you don’t want to be charged.
Ten Pound Poms Cast, Characters & Plot (No Spoilers)
‘Ten Pound Poms’ is based on a true story and refers to the millions of Brits who emigrated to Australia after World War II on a £10 ticket. The scheme ran from 1945-1982, and sold a dream in Australia, with a job, a house and a better life with plenty of sun. In return, Australia boosted its population and gained more workers to help grow its economy.
On arrival, however, things weren’t quite as promised. The “house” was more of a communal hostel with basic facilities — not the beautiful, sun-drenched homes that were advertised. Plus, the job prospects weren’t quite as expected either.
To make matters worse, the condition for the reduced passage fare was that they had to stay in Australia for a minimum of two years or fork out the £120 return fare. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but if we take when the BBC drama is set (1956), that’s roughly £3,800 (about $4,900) in today’s money, and per person.
The BBC-Stan Ten Pound Poms Series
‘Ten Pound Poms’ is a dramatized version of the story. We follow a group of migrants, including the Roberts family, who have made the decision to leave Britain in the hopes of a better life and, as the real story tells, they realize things are not as expected once they arrive.
Another member of the migrant group, Kate (Michelle Keegan), isn’t so bothered about the dingy living arrangements, though. Kate’s young son was put into care, and she was later given the devastating news that he had been sent to the care system in Australia by a Catholic orphanage without her consent.
While Kate is on a mission to find her son, we watch the Roberts family and the rest of the group struggle with their new identity and surroundings as they adapt to their new life down under. Season 2 continues to follow Kate, and Annie (Faye Marsay) and Terry Roberts (Warren Brown). Here’s the cast list.
Performer | Character |

Michelle Keegan | Kate Thorne |
