Everything We Can Expect from WWDC 2025

Apple is holding its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from June 9 through June 13. We can expect details on the new operating systems for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch to be announced during the keynote, which typically takes place on the first day of the event. Rumor has it we’ll see a major redesign, something that not everyone is happy about. Let’s take a look at what this conference is bringing our way.

When Is WWDC 2025?

WWDC 2025 will be held from June 9 to June 13, 2025. It will be a mostly remote event with an in-person aspect to the keynote, as has been the tradition for the past few years. Apple typically announces new operating systems at the keynote, so we can expect to get details on what this year’s updates have in store. Let’s take a look at some of these rumors.

iOS 19

The rumors for iOS 19 are a mixed bag. While we’re all excited to see what updates we’re getting this year, some have been feeling frustrated at the slow rollout of Apple Intelligence. Peter Kostadinov of Phone Arena declared this is the first Apple event he’s been “dreading,” largely due to the potential of hearing about features we won’t see for quite a while. Indeed, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said in his Power On newsletter that some of the features announced last year might not be implemented until at least iOS 20. While it’s true that sitting through an hour-long announcement about things we won’t see for another year or more doesn’t sound like the most scintillating experience, it’s always interesting to see what’s coming down the pipeline, even if we won’t get these features right away.

Another rumor that’s causing mixed feelings is that there will be a massive redesign. Considering how the Photos app redesign was wildly unpopular, Gurman’s prediction that this will be “the biggest revamp since iOS 7” might not bring many smiling faces. But, if Apple can’t implement many of its exciting new AI visions just yet, it makes sense they’ll want to offer us something as a holdover, and a big design change might need to fill that space.

iPadOS 19

While there aren’t as many rumors about iPadOS 19, it stands to reason we might see some more Apple Intelligence integration this year. Updates to the iPad tend to run a cycle or two after the iPhone, but most of the current Apple Intelligence features are already available on the iPad, so it’s a bit harder to predict what the next wave will look like. If the massive redesign rumor is true, the iPad will certainly be a recipient, and navigating our favorite tablet might be a lot different.

watchOS 12

The 2025 watchOS updates might bring us blood pressure monitoring, according to Mark Gurman. This could require some new hardware, so it might be an update limited to the 2025 Apple Watch models. Gurman has also been making noises about seeing a camera added to the Apple Watch, but the specific functionality and timeline remain vague,

macOS 15

Even less is known about what our Mac updates will bring, but we can expect to see new Mac software nonetheless, likely launching this fall. We’re expecting an M5 chip to come our way, so OS updates might depend largely on that chip series’ capabilities. Whether the Mac will also see a massive redesign remains to be seen, as Mac updates don’t always follow the same pattern as the mobile devices, but whatever they’re planning, we will likely find out on June 9.

WWDC 2024: When & How to Watch

The WWDC 2025 keynote will be given on June 9. This year, the conference will include in-person events, but the keynote will be streamed online for anyone who wants to watch it live. Here’s how to watch WWDC 2025:

On Mac:

• The Apple TV app is a stock app on Mac. On the day of the keynote event, open the app to watch the livestream.

• On a Mac running macOS version 10.15 or later, open the App Store and download the Apple Developer app. On the day of the keynote event, open the app to watch the livestream.

• Open Safari and visit Apple’s Event page. Apple should update its Events page with details a few days before WWDC begins.

• Visit Apple’s official YouTube channel. Apple will add the keynote to the top of its page before WWDC begins.

On PC:

• Download the Edge browser by Microsoft for Windows 10 users. Then, on the day of the Keynote, visit Apple’s Event page or the official YouTube channel, and you’ll be able to live stream the Keynote event as easily as any Mac user. Some devices may be able to stream the event using a recent version of Chrome or Firefox.

On Apple TV, iPhone, or iPad:

• The Apple TV app is a stock app on the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. On the day of the keynote event, open the app to watch the livestream.

• On iPhone, iPad, or the Apple TV HD or later, open the App Store and download the Apple Developer app. On the day of the keynote event, open the app and navigate to the WWDC tab to watch the livestream.
