A DEVASTATING 7.7 magnitude earthquake has struck Myanmar and rocked Thailand with dozens of buildings being severely damaged.

Terrifying footage shows the moment the strong tremors left a towering skyscraper crashing to the ground – causing workers and locals to run for their lives.

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said the quake had a depth of 10km with the epicentre near the city of Mandalay.

A second 6.4 magnitude aftershock was also felt just 12 minutes later near the city, the US Geological Survey reported.

Locals in Bangkok – 800 miles away from Mandalay – were left running out of buildings and onto the streets in panic as the tremors first hit.

Witnesses reported seeing gallons of water from luxury high-rise apartment pools lashing over the side and onto the streets below.

Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention said the quake impacted almost every region of the country.

The aftershocks were also felt in India and China.

There is still no word from officials on if they expect any casualties and how much damage has been caused.

Police and emergency officials are still working tirelessly to find survivors and rescue anyone who may be trapped in their homes.

Thailand‘s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra called an emergency meeting with his officials to address the impact of the quake.

It comes just two months after over 125 people died after a devastating earthquake ripped through one of Tibet’s holiest cities.

The 7.1 magnitude quake destroyed “many buildings” in Shigatse injuring 130 and wreaking havoc in parts of Nepal and India.

The quake has also left dozens missing with rescue teams desperately looking for survivors, the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC) has warned.

At least 188 people were injured in Tibet on the Chinese side of the border, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

Videos posted by China’s Ministry of Emergency Management showed two people being carried on stretchers by workers treading over the debris from collapsed homes.

They were seen climbing mounds of broken bricks, with some using ladders in heavily damaged villages.

The earthquake also rocked Mount Everest – the world’s tallest peak at 29,000ft – but everyone on the mountain is understood to be safe.
